Forbes Face Lift

This is a non-feminizing face lift designed just for men seeking to maintain their competitive edge in business or to restore a more “healthy” appearance.

What makes this face lift procedure unique to men is the emphasis on restoring a sculpted neck, eyelid skin/lower lid fat removal, replenishing cheek volume, as well as jaw line re-contouring.    In order to achieve maximal results this will require a combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures.  A neck lift will restore a more youthful definition to a man’s neck without giving him that “feminine” pulled tight look on his face.  A blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) is often necessary to remove lax skin on the upper eyelids and to remove the fat pads under the eye that give a man’s eyes that tired, heavy look.  To address the cheek skin laxity Dr. Harrison combines dermal fillers or micro fat grafting and skin excision to refill the hollow look in the mid face.  Jaw line re-contouring also uses dermal filler to augment the chin & lower face area and restore the crisp masculine line of the jaw.  Botox can also be used to soften deep wrinkles without giving a man that “frozen face” look.

Dr. Harrison also encourages an easy skin care regimen with Physician grade SkinMedica products to help with skin tone and texture.

Every man is different and a consultation with Dr. Harrison will allow him to design a procedure plan that is customized.

Brow / Forehead Lift

Brow lifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Brow lifts involve the removal or alteration of the muscles above the eyes to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. This can be achieved using either traditional or hairline subcutaneous methods. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and face lifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face. You and Dr. Harrison will discuss which option is best for you.

Ear Surgery – Otoplasty

Ear surgery typically serves two functions: setting prominent ears back closer to the head and reducing the size of large ears. Surgery may also be helpful for large or stretched earlobes and lobes with large creases and wrinkles. During your initial consultation, Dr. Harrison will explain which ear structures are imbalanced and what steps will be taken to achieve your desired look while maintaining a natural un-operated appearance post-operatively.

Chin Enhancement – Mentoplasty

Mentoplasty is a term for a cosmetic surgery meant to improve the facial profile and harmony of its features. Although human beauty and attractiveness are generally subjective, there are some rules that dictate whether contours are aesthetic or not. In regards to the chin, these rules revolve around the positioning and prominence of the chin relative to the base of the nose. No one procedure has a more powerful effect on facial balance than a chin augmentation. Dr. Harrison will discuss whether other procedures like neck liposuction might be of benefit at your initial consultation.

Liposuction- Chest, Waist & Upper Back

The amount of fat in the deeper layer of a man’s body is what makes up the “spare tire”, a full breast or man boobs and also a thick upper back.  It is more variable in thickness, genetically influenced and is exercise and diet resistant fat.  This is the layer that determines your shape. These areas respond well to liposuction to improve a man’s shape.

Liposuction is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to remove localized areas of fat from the body through a small thin tube called a cannula. The fat from the targeted area is suctioned from the body through this tube to help patients achieve a slimmer and balanced appearance. During your initial consultation with Dr. Harrison he will help you define your goals and set safe, realistic expectations. Liposuction removes fat but does not tighten your skin.

After a consultation Dr Harrison can predict how much improvement men can expect in the various areas of concern. Unless someone has lost massive amounts of weight, most men’s skin has fairly good tone and can expect good skin redraping after the fat is removed.  Many guys elect to have their outpatient surgery on a Thursday and can generally go back to work by Monday (depending on areas treated & job type).  My patients describe waking up from surgery: the spare tire (fat) is gone and they feel sore but not in pain.  Dr. Harrison had all his patients wear surgical compression garments to support the areas treated for 4-6 weeks. Swelling and soreness take about 4-6 weeks to fully go away with the final shape results evident at 3 months.

Male Breast Reduction – Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia or “man boobs” is a very common problem for men, but rarely spoken about. It can affect just one breast or both breasts. The problem usually develops in the early teenage years, but in most cases it regresses. Unfortunately, some cases do not resolve themselves and can lead to a source of embarrassment and social isolation into adulthood. There are certain medical problems and medications that may cause Gynecomastia, but most patients have no known cause.

We most commonly perform this correction on later teenage boys, but Dr. Harrison has also done a gynecomastia correction on a patient that was 75 years old. He told Dr. Harrison he had been embarrassed about his breast shape for years but was more concerned with raising his family. Interestingly, what motivated him to seek correction at 75 years of age was that he did not want to miss out on the opportunity to swim with his grandchildren. Dr. Harrison individualizes the procedure depending on the patient’s deformity. Sometimes volume can be removed from the breast with liposuction, minimizing the scarring and recovery. More often, Dr. Harrison uses a combination of liposuction and direct excision of breast tissue in order to shape more natural appearing breasts.
