Tummy Tuck + Liposuction Surgery-

Every plastic surgery procedure has risks. As a result, combining operations also combines the risk. During the pre-operative evaluation, a surgical plan tailored to a patient’s anatomy and goals will be formulated. A great deal of effort and time is spent on educating patients of potential risks and how they can be minimized. I have developed a checklist of several pre-operative maneuvers to lessen the consequences of a procedure of this magnitude.   Our office stresses the importance of getting in the best nutritional, emotional, and cardiopulmonary condition preoperatively to help with a smoother surgical recovery.

Those patients who have greater physical stamina tolerate the physiological stress of this combined procedure, have a faster recovery and usually require less pain medication post-operatively.  I often prescribe a month in the gym with a trainer and time on a treadmill before the date of surgery.

Here is some pre-surgical advice from the trainer/gym owner our practice recommends, Luis Correa.

“There are a few key changes that can be made to prepare for plastic surgery and boost results after.  Mentally embracing the need for a lifestyle change is most important and first component we address.  Next we start Dr. Harrison’s patients on a balanced diet.  Before surgery we train your body to a routine of a balanced diet with 4-5 small meals per day.  This helps speed the metabolism.

I also start Dr. Harrison’s patients on an exercise routine consisting of weight and cardio training 3-4 days per week.  This helps prepare your body for surgery and a speedy recovery.  The lifestyle change you commit to will show success that you are sure to be pleased with.”
